From San Dimas

Snowman in my cul-de-sac

My neighbor dogs I love.

My daughter and fiance grow vegetables. I can't wait to eat their beets.

I'm into no stress holidays. You can say I'm retired from the holiday business. I told them to feel free to make mess in my kitchen. I'll clean up later, and that will be my Xmas present! They like that. Happy Holidays!

I like your holiday "retirement" attitude, Keiko! We are hiding away, will open the door to our den on Tuesday for Tanka. We like this feeling! We do welcome visitors, but we make no plans...It is fun to talk to you!

Mmm! Looks great! I won't be able to have a garden until next year.

Kathabela,

To me, you and Rick are having Xmas weekly if not everyday! I don't know how you can keep up. So, it makes sense to rest sometimes. And I agree this is a great occasion to rest. I'm relaxed while most people are busy.

See you soon.

Harry,

That means you are going to have a vegetable garden next year? That's great. Crime Scene Photographer goes green. By the way, I just finished cooking two small beets. Wow, how red they are! Like blood! I'm kidding. But they are beautiful and precious.

Yes, Keiko... I tell people we celebrate EVERY day, which is true! Can you ask your daughter what vegetables we should be planting right now in our garden? We have an 8 foot plot in the The Caltech Community Garden at Holliston and Del Mar. I just pulled out most of the plants that were shivering and not doing well. Only our-onion-chive plant is okay. I don't go every day, but there is an automatic watering system... what does she think, and should we plant seeds or small plants? Yes we like being relaxed amidst the busy world right now too. We also know we will be busy startng Tuesday, but in a different way!

Kathabela,

We were discussing about new crops and soil this afternoon. I'm not expert, but I know that farmers alternate their crops. My daughter was saying that they would improve their soil to grow more vegetables (I haven't had a chance to ask what vegetables yet, so I'll let you know later), but I think there is more to it. Even some of the flowers used to thrive in my garden somehow disappeared after some years even though I added some fertilizer. I know cherry tomato is very hardy. In my backyard, I see it sometimes even though I haven't planted it more than ten years.

Thanks for thinking about the vegetables Keiko... maybe you and I can walk to the garden when you come... you may even walk right past it, and I could meet you there. Corner of Del Mar and Holliston, it is on the way to Caltech entrance near the red door. I call our plot "The Poetry Garden" and some of the poets have helped me sometimes.

Thank you, Kathabela. Next time I'd like to see the vegetable garden. I was wondering where it is.
