Bolsa Chica

A German friend of mine gave me a ride to Hungtinton Beach.
She is fun to talk with.  I wish I can talk in German.  I shall not forget
this day and our conversation. On the way there, we stopped at Bolsa Chica,
ecological reserve.  When I see birds, I have to click my camera. It's so relaxing
to watch them and the water.

I don't know the name of this bird, but she looks like some kind of heron.
It is similar to the ones I see in Yokohama, but I think her beak is longer.

Keiko,

Those are gorgeous photos of the Heron-like bird. I can lose myself in the first photo the way the water shimmers. And you always manage to capture the movement of your subject. I feel like I can see his personality—or she…

I love the name of the reserve, “Bolsa Chica.” Off the top of my head, if I’ve got my words right, I think it means “little bag” or “little sack” in Spanish.

Also, congratulations on all your page views. That is very good news!! You are getting out there. :)

Rebb,

Thank you for the translation. Bolsa Chica sounds grand even though I now know the meaning. Little Bag makes sense. But Bolsa Chica sounds much better!

I think foreign words can be powerful because of their mystery, and the word order such as Bag Little, makes it sound important because it's a bit out of ordinary from the standard English.

About pageviews, I have nothing to compare with, but I'm amazed about Kana Shodo. It's been always high. For whatever reason, I'm pleased about it. And I'm happy that I can share my excitement with my teacher and classmates. The other day, an old friend of mine came over, and she said she always wanted to take Shodo. I was like her, and I finally decided to take a class last spring. I wonder what exactly draw us into shodo.
